Orroroo, with a population of 504 is predominantly a farming community, the main products being wheat, wool, sheep, cattle, pigs and a highly successful kangaroo processor. Fledgling industries in the "pipeline" include olives, sandstone mining, tourism as well as new approaches to conventional farming. A potential Underground Coal Gasification project 6 km east of Orroroo may provide the opportunity for a stepped increase in economic growth. Orroroo has all the services expected in a small country community. The town has a hospital and an Area School which offers combined Primary and Secondary tuition. Altogether, a great place to live, the country friendliness infuses an appreciation of a different way of life.
