Port Wakefield

Only 99 kilometres north of Adelaide, Port Wakefield with a population of 497 is the gateway to the Yorke Peninsula and is a fantastic fishing destination. Situated on Port Wakefield Highway, the township supports one of South Australia’s major transport corridors with its roadhouses and trucking stops. The town (and surrounding areas) has numerous industries. Major developments in recent years have included the Pork Industry with intensive farming, meat processing and poultry farms. The town proper is located off the highway and includes a range of sporting facilities for the community and a primary school. The town has a recreational fishing wharf, where small boats can be launched. Boardwalks and bird identification signs provide an insight into the environment. A major residential development is planned over the next few years.
